Dr. Nagabhushana K S

Director - Research

Dr. KS Nagabhushana has nearly 27 years of research experience and has a proven record in the
fields of Natural Products Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, Organometallic Chemistry, Biotechnology,
Nanomaterials, Food Chemistry and Catalysis with a focus on building interconnection of branches.
An interdisciplinary researcher, he started his research career as a Ph.D. (CSIR fellow- Natural
Products Chemistry) in VMSRF from Mysore University (submission 1998) followed by stint as
Postdoctoral Fellow at University of the Western Cape and Rhodes University (RSA; 1998-2001). He
took up Senior Researcher position at Max-Planck Institute for Coal Research (2002-2004), Muelheim
an der Ruhr, Germany and followed it by a stint as BMBF project Scientific in-charge at ITC-CPV,
Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe/ Heidelberg University, Germany (2005-2007). Post this international
experience, he worked as Associate Professor at the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) in the
Department of Chemistry (April to Dec. 2007). From 2008 till 2016 he worked as a lead researcher at
the TATA Chemicals Limited, Innovation Centre, Pune. Before joining Prayoga, he spent nearly 5
years as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of IITB-Monash Research Academy, a unique JV between
IIT Bombay and Monash University (Australia).

As a researcher, he has authored more than 25 international journal publications, 8 chapters in
books (2 of them in Encyclopedia of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology) and is an inventor in 15
Indian and US patent applications, most of which are granted. During his role as a principle
researcher, he led the team for 2 commercial products (Food based), a platform technology
development (Green Chemistry/Catalysis), and helped in 3 technology transfers (Nano and Agri
