Project Title

Analyzing Profile of Problem-Solving Skills in 9th Grade CBSE Students in a particular physics topic.

About

Problem-solving, a complex process involving different sub skills is an essential skill for science students as well as in everyday life. Science education should ideally impart and nurture problem-solving skills. It is therefore imperative for us to be able to reliably assess this skill and track the development in a student. The goal of this project is to analyze the profile of problem-solving skills in 9th grade CBSE students in a specific physics topic through a survey and assess using MAPS rubric. We are expecting to establish the nature of problem-solving behavior (expert/novice) of students and to identify the difficulties of students within that particular topic and problem-solving in general.

Project Title

Design, Implementation and Evaluation of Flipped Chemistry Courses for Economically Disadvantaged Secondary School Students

About

Recent research reports show that the science education repeatedly encouraged student-centered learning approaches which help students to enhance their learning abilities. The aim of this proposed project is to enhance the quality of science learning among economically disadvantaged school students using student-centered flipped learning approach. The objectives of our project are to improve students’ motivation in learning chemistry, in-depth understanding, and to reduce failure rates.

Project Title

Enhancing Conceptual Understanding in General Chemistry among Secondary School Students.

About

Diverse sets of teaching strategies and methods are followed by chemistry teachers to transmit information to a group of students. The ultimate aim of this project is to enhance the macro, micro and symbolic levels of understanding using Johnstone’s chemistry learning method. The project also concentrates on developing higher order thinking skills among students. The efficacy of the project will be evaluated by measuring students’ engagement, motivation and learning outcomes.

Project Title

Concept mapping for lower order and higher order thinking skills (LOTS & HOTS) for different chemistry topics.

About

Concept maps are visual representations of information that is used to analyze and correlate meaningful relationships among scientific concepts. One major factor behind students’ inability to grasp a concept is lack of effective assessment and evaluation tools. The main motivation behind this study is to identify the impact of the use of concept maps in stimulating LOTS and HOTS among students.

Project Title

Perception of Difficult Topics in Science Curriculum by School Teachers: Diagnosing the Problems and Remedy Suggestions

About

The main aim of this study is to find out opinions of classroom teachers about the difficulties they encountered in teaching science topics (Class 6-10); what they already know about teaching difficulties encountered in the teaching process; what topics/concepts in science they feel more difficult; and to diagnose the reasons for difficulty and recommend the schools about the teaching approaches to overcome the difficulties.

About

Experimental skills are very important for school students, and it is necessary to visualize experimental skills by evaluating student achievement. Conducting science experiments in laboratories is an appropriate way to develop experimental skills. Evaluating the students’ ability to apply knowledge in practical situations is a way to check their experimental skills. So, this study is designed to evaluate the experimental skills in children of school science (Class 10).
