Dr.Ramya Prabhu

Researcher

Dr. Ramya Prabhu completed her doctoral research at the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS), Bengaluru DST GOI. She has obtained a DST INSPIRE fellowship for carrying out her Ph.D. work at CeNS. She received various awards throughout her doctoral studies, notably the Best Oral Presentation Award at 3rd Indian Materials Conclave (IndMac) organized by IIT, Madras. During her Ph.D., she supervised numerous visiting students from various academic levels (Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D.) and supported their thesis work leading to scientific publication. Before joining to Ph.D., she worked as a chemistry lecturer at Vikas P.U. College Mangaluru and taught chemistry to undergraduate students. She mentored students in science model-building competitions, elocution, and quiz competitions. Dr. Ramya secured the first rank in MSc., Applied Chemistry, 2015 at Mangalore University and was awarded Gold Medal for Securing the highest marks in the Applied Chemistry course. She has a B. Ed degree from Dr. T. M. A. Pai College of Education Udupi, Mangalore University Karnataka. She has developed a keen interest in science education, educational research, and adolescent psychology. She also worked as an assistant teacher in the rural part of Karnataka and contributed to educating rural students (2011-2013). As a higher secondary school student, Ramya participated in a science model-making competition and won a district-level prize. She worked as the science club secretary during her entire academic career and executed several scientific programs. Dr. Ramya knows six languages and loves to learn new languages; her likes include excursions to historical places, singing, and gardening.
